Mushroom Coral Pipefish

Pilzkorallen Seenadel

I found six of them together, nearly invisible between the arms of the mushroom coral. This fish, unlike the anemone fish or the anemone shrimp is not very common.

Auf der Pilzkoralle befanden sich gleich sechs dieser kleinen Seenadeln. Ein seltener Fisch, der nur auf Pilzkorallen lebt und sich vom Aussehen gänzlich angepasst hat.

Habitat: coral reefs on mushroom corals (Heliofungia actiniformis)
Range: Indonesia, Philippines, New Guinea
