Barnacles on seapen / Rankenfuesser (Entenmuscheln)

(Lepas anatifera)

Barnacles are actually crustaceans though they once were thought to belong to a separate group. After detailed studies of their larval history they were classified as modified crustaceans. They attach themselves to ships, old tree trunks and many other things, but it was the first time I saw some attached to the top of a seapen.
